Strengthening Teachers’ and Elementary School Principals’ Knowledge About Developmentally Appropriate Practice
In Vail, we will be expanding early childhood teachers’, elementary school principals’ and other administrators’ skills and knowledge about developmentally appropriate practice, transition to kindergarten and how young children learn. Participants will work together through book readings, small and large group activities, and journal their thoughts and reflections on how their learning will change and improve their practice. We will meet with elementary principals at least quarterly for a collaborative session and discussion about the transition to kindergarten for preschool children. Principals and participants will work together to develop a common language and understanding of developmentally appropriate practice.
